How to Protect Your Energy as an Empath

How to Protect Your Energy as an Empath

What is an Empath?

Empaths are affected by other people’s energies and have an innate ability to intuitively feel and perceive others. Being an empath is much more than being highly sensitive. It’s also not just limited to emotions. Empaths can perceive physical sensitivities and spiritual urges, as well as just knowing the motivations and intentions of other people.

If you are not sure, I use the analogy of “stepping out of the box.” I remember going to a gathering feeling happy and in a good space. When I was leaving the gathering, four hours later, I felt restless and anxious. I checked within trying to remember when my energy changed? It was when someone lit up a joint. I have no problems with people wanting to smoke Marijuana which, I feel, is much better than getting plastered on alcohol. The idea, here, is to pay attention to how you are feeling and if your feelings change when around someone whose energy is not in harmony with yours. If you can relate to what I’m describing, then thankfully there are ways you can protect your energy.

8 Ways Empaths Can Protect Their Energy

Essential Oils: Lavender, Rose, or Sage. Just dab it once or twice a day.

Hematite & Quartz Crystal: Help to absorb negative energy. They are very protective and help one to stay grounded in many situations.

Shielding Visualization: Begin by taking a few deep long breaths. Then feel or visualize a beautiful shield of white or pink light surrounding your body and extending a few inches beyond it. This shield protects you from anything negative, stressful, toxic, or intrusive.

Nature: It’s a wonderful healer. Sit under a tree, close your eyes, imagine or feel the negative energy leaving your body, connect with the ground under your feet.

Water: Stand under a shower and feel or imagine negative energy leaving your body. Water represents the flowing Earth’s energy.

Spirit Animal or Guide: Ask your guide or spirit animal for protection.

Be aware of your feelings: Take time to check in during the day. Notice if anything has changed and if so, when, who, and where did the change occur?

Stay away from toxic people who drain your energy. Be in control of your time and attention.

Lovingly,

Robert
